My golf game is suffering due to low club swing speed. What can I do to increase speed?

I have a relatively low speed swing…this is a 2-part question:
What can I do to speed up my swing?
And what is a good driver to use? I have a huge 460cc Rawlings that looks like the kitchen sink on a stick right now, and it works fairly well, but my swing is slow so I end up slicing it alot. I know that when I have a good swing it is usually because I swing thru nice and fast…not trying to kill it but still a good speed.
So…is there drills or something I can do to speed it up?
I’ve heard flexibility is a key, hence the reason you do better during the middle of the match after you’ve warmed up. Is this true? And what can I practice to make club speed increase?

Actually, timing has a lot to do with it as well. With the exception of Tiger and a few others, have you noticed that the pros are not really swinging that hard. Why? Timing.

In fact, I’d venture to guess that your problem is that your hands are not turning over properly and that is why you are ending up with a weak slice. If your hands do not “flip” through the hitting zone, you hit the ball with an open club face, resulting in a weak, high slice.

My suggestion:
1) Check your grip. Are both vees pointing toward your right shoulder?
2) Go to the range. Hit a bucket of balls at 1/2 swing. Concentrate on rolling your wrists open as you take the club back. Then “flip” your hands over as you strike the ball. Think about looking at your right palm and then flip the hand over as quickly as possible to see the back of your hand. That’s the basic motion you want during the swing. This will add club-head speed without over-swinging and help fix your slice as well. As you see you are hitting the ball squarely, lengthen your swing out.

Hope this helps. Reverse the above for a lefty.
